Currently, ITS Standards are available directly from the Standards Development Organizations (SDO). The
NTCIP standards, for example, are available from NEMA, ITE, and AASHTO. According to ITE, ITS Standards are available for purchase as individual copies and as sets, where a set is a series of standards (i.e. the 1200 series). However, the purchase price does not allow copying of the standard, use by more than one entity concurrently, and does not include updates. Additionally, regionwide licensing is not available.
To ensure that the applicable standards are being utilized in the Bay Area, it is recommended the Maintenance Team, as defined in
Use and Maintenance of the Bay Area ITS
Architecture, be tasked with being the point of reference for all questions dealing with standards.
