ITS Standards are used to
define the information exchange between ITS project elements. The Bay
Area ITS Architecture provides the required and relevant
standards for each information exchange for major regional
projects within the Bay Area ITS Architecture.
In reviewing and applying these standards, the following principles
need to be kept in mind:
- These standards only
need to be applied where there will be an exchange of data or
monitoring/control functions between systems or field devices.
- The specific standards
listed are not static. As the standards are implemented, changes are
being made. In addition, the standards are being changed as technology
evolves.
In order to find which
standard impacts your project deployment, refer to the Standards by Data Flow.
Standards will require additional review before they can be used.
Specifically, the stakeholder will need to know which technology is
being implemented (i.e. Ethernet, point to multipoint, etc.) and which
standard center-to-center protocol (i.e. CORBA, DATEX, XML, etc.) is
being implemented to determine specific applicable standards.
The standards for major
regional projects are divided into the following categories:
Center-to-Center Standards
Center-to-Field Standards
Vehicle-to-Field
